Project Overview

Who is Avril? Avril Supermarché Santé is an independent Quebecer health food store chain. Avril is renewal. Just like a garden, it is a promise of freshness and abundance, bringing us closer to a healthier way of life. They step inside to refuel our mind and bodies, and leave inspired, vivified and refreshed.

When we first met Avril’s Executive team back in February 2020, the message was crystal clear: They wanted to level up their eCommerce game to be a few steps ahead of the competition as they always have been with their stores. The main goals were then to become THE online destination in the healthy food and cosmetic industry, match their unique in-store shopping experience online and not the least remain the leader in Quebec in the field of healthy food, well-being and cosmetics.

We replatformed the entire eCommerce site within nine months and launched the Click & Collect (phase 2) few months after.

Our approach

True to us for this kind of project, we methodically applied our unique strategy recipe composed of four workshops that covers all aspects of the project and the business. From the ambitious business vision and goals, to the bigger system integration and the smallest customer paint point, we collected, analyzed and transformed all this information to clear and concise requirements.

UX & UI DESIGN

Based on Avril's business complexity and our thorough strategy phase, our design team came up with a tailored desktop/mobile user experience combining simplicity and practicality for Avril's customers, including an easy-to-use navigation, nice-looking landing pages as well as two distinct purchase funnels.

Development

Replatforming from Magento 1 to Adobe Commerce was a great challenge for us due to the tight deadline as well as the many third-party integration we had to rebuild and improved at the same time. The decision to go with a headless approach for this project (PWA) forced us to get out of our comfort zone, but was absolutely necessary to fulfill the expectations from the executive team and bring Avril few steps ahead for their online platform.
